| Swans Of all waterfowl, swans are the largest. Most swans reach sexual maturity after three years. Such as most waterfowl, swans pair off for life. Males and females share incubation duties. Young swans are known as cygnets, from the Latin word for swans, Cygnus. Most species of swans are white, but Australia is home to a species known as the Black Swan. All swan breeding pairs should be kept in separate enclosures as they are very aggressive during breeding season. |
